Seaming carpets the professional way….
Here we are seaming a 5m wide man made carpet with what some carpet fitters would call the silver seamer. The right name is silva seamer.
Both sides of the edges of carpets were cut back with a straight edge and sharp straight stanley blade.
Silva seam tape is laid silver side down along the floor. The tape has a metal backing for electric current to pass across in turn warning the tape to heat the adhesive.
The seams are eased into place and 2 clamps from the seamer are attached to both ends of the tape. The silva seamer now can be turned on.
After about 3-5 minutes the tape will be hot enough and the seamer is turned off and seam left to cool.
After 15 minutes the carpets can be fitted.
The joy with the silva seamer is you can re activate the join and redo it. You cant do this with a conventional seaming iron.
